Hedingham Castle has entertained some of the country’s most illustrious monarchs, including Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. The Castle Keep, standing 110 feet high, was built in 1140 by the de Veres, Earls of Oxford. This old Essex barn has been beautifully restored and modernised to provide the perfect venue for weddings. Near Great Dunmow in Essex, it is twenty minutes from the M11 and Stansted Airport, so is within easy reach of London. Set in peaceful countryside, there is a lovely secluded garden with soft lighting which is ideal for sitting outside on warm summer evenings. The Barn can seat 200 people comfortably with space for dancing but it can also be personalised to make a more intimate setting for smaller groups. Mangapp Manor can now hold civil ceremonies and partnerships on a thatched gazebo, floating on the lake. Your wedding breakfast is served in the elegant silk lined marquee, located in rural surroundings including paddocks of highland cows. In the evening the atmosphere in the marquee changes as the DJ arrives to set the party scene and specialist mood lighting is switched on. Couples enjoy their romantic first dance under the beautiful starlight lining. Outside the gardens continue their spectacle as they are lit with subtle lighting, candles, torches, and hanging lanterns, making the hours of darkness at Mangapp Manor truly magical. After a perfect day the bride and groom and their immediate wedding party retire to their charming accommodation within the manor.
