The Fowey Hall Hotel was the inspiration behind Toad Hall in ‘Wind in the Willows’, Fowey hall on the south Cornish coast sits in a spectacular location overlooking the sailing and fishing port of Fowey within its original walled gardens and with commanding views of the river estuary and far out to sea. Built by a former Lord Mayor of London, Sir Charles Hanson, this Queen Anne Chateau-inspired Cornish mansion was completed in 1899 in very Fashionable style. Rich Architectural detailing, Baroque plasterwork, vaulted ceilings, exotically wood panelled public rooms, French furniture, especially woven Wilton carpets and elaborate fireplaces all contribute to the breathtaking effect on strolling through the hotel. As a luxury Family hotel, Fowey Hall warmly welcomes children and is a truly relaxed and delightful setting for a venue. Fowey Hall enjoys spectacular views of the estuary and sea, but the greatest asset we believe is the warmth and friendliness within.
