Bratislava is a little gem that has quietly been tucked away behind Austria and the Czech Republic for years, and it's now emerging from the shadows to offer itself up as one of the new breed of Prague alternatives. In fact, it may not have the architectural splendour of Prague - where else does? - but what it does offer is a great city and with beer at 50p a pint and a good meal at around £5 a head it all adds up to great value.
